I have full coverage on my 2005 acura, the car has a custom molded body kit, aftermarket rims, nice paint job, and a turbo, if the car was totalled would the aftermarket modifications be covered? my insurance company is progressive btw. and they never asked if it had any modifications.

I live in North Carolina and my Dad lives in Texas. I am going to college close to my mother who current ly insures me. I am not going to have a car for probably 2-3 years, and will literally never drive my moms car when I am at home, but my mom is paying a large amount of money to be on her plan. The insurance people said that you have to be more than 100 miles away from her to be taken off because there is resonable doubt I would drive. I was wondering if state laws allow for me to be insured by my dads plan in Tx, if so, would it cost a lot to be on his? Think there's a correlation between the large population of illegals or ...that the folks of California are just becoming worse drivers all of a sudden? Hint: 50% of criminals in California prisons are illegal aliens. In fairness; there are a small % of that 50%, who are not of Hispanic descent. I work in california and was wondering if there is a california or federal law on when a company should provide insurance benifits for a full time worker? My friend has been with the company over a year and still has no benifits...i know most companies give it to you after 60 or 90 days probation even 6 months but is there a law about how long they should take ?

Why is our group health insurance so much more expensive than getting an individual plan privately?

My husband gets insurance through his work, and they take out $170 a week (he gets paid weekly). So that totals about $730 a month for us and our kids plus maternity benefits. What confuses me is if we were to drop that insurance and get an individual plan with the same company, same deductible, same co-pay, including maternity benefits (exactly the same plan) it would run us about $440 a month. I thought that the whole point of getting on a group plan was that it would be cheaper. I would be okay with it being the same as private but it makes absolutely zero sense to me that it would be almost twice as much... Anybody want to explain? Or are they just screwing us over?
